Alberta Pork has launched a new cost of production study to help better understand our producers’ margins and how to improve their businesses. We encourage you to support the study by volunteering your information to help better the industry.
The primary objectives of the study are to:
- Anonymously compare costs between producers in our province and across the country;
- Identify and mitigate high-cost factors in your individual operation, with the support of Alberta Pork;
- Obtain reliable, quantifiable metrics for efficient and effective cost management, to give you independent numbers for use in price negotiations with processors.
In the last decade, Alberta Pork has commissioned two other cost of production studies, which were similar in nature; however, it was felt that more dedicated support was needed. Therefore, Alberta Pork has decided to collect the data in-house in order to improve our service to producers while increasing our capabilities to address economic issues.
