SCAP Value-Added Programs

Alberta producers and processors now have access to two exciting funding opportunities through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP): the On-Farm Value Added Program and the Value-Added Program. These programs are open for applications and will remain so until all available funding is allocated—early action is strongly encouraged.

On-Farm Value Added Program

This program supports primary producers who are ready to take the next step in adding value to their agricultural products. Funding is available for projects that fall under four key areas:

  • Processing Capacity Expansion
  • Food Safety Improvement
  • New Product and Process Development
  • Market Development and Access

Successful applicants may receive support for capital expenses (25% grant/75% applicant cost share) and non-capital expenses (50% grant/50% applicant cost share). Two funding streams are available, depending on the size of the project.

Value-Added Program

Designed for the value-added food and bio-industrial sectors, this program focuses on increasing sales, expanding production, and accessing new markets. Like the On-Farm program, funding is merit-based and supports the same four strategic areas.

Eligible capital and non-capital costs are funded at the same cost-sharing ratios, and projects are evaluated based on alignment with program objectives and overall merit.
