Feed Requirement Updates

PigSAFE and PigCARE programs have updates related to Section 3.3 – Approved and Registered Feed and Feed Ingredients.

These changes are intended to align program language with the updated federal Feeds Regulations, while maintaining continuity for producers.

What’s Changing

  • The language in Section 3.3 has been updated to reflect the current Feeds Regulations.
  • Record R-W – Letter of Guarantee for Recycled Food Products or Distillers Grains will no longer be required from feed suppliers.
  • Producers will be asked to acknowledge compliance with the updated Feeds Regulations as part of their on-farm records.

What’s Staying the Same

  • The number of requirements in Section 3.3 remains unchanged, ensuring continuity within the PigSAFE and PigCARE programs.
  • Existing record-keeping practices, including the Rations Used On-Farm Record (R-R), continue to be the primary verification tool.

These updates recognize that compliance with the Feeds Regulations is already embedded in current feed supply and on-farm practices, while reducing unnecessary paperwork.

Thank you for your continued commitment to food safety, animal care, and program integrity.
