Alberta Pork launched its Ambassador Program in July 2002 as a strategic program of social sustainability to support rural communities and all Albertans. Since then it has evolved into one of Alberta Pork’s largest community-driven initiatives.
The program emphasizes pork as a renewable resource and the pork industry as an important contributor to society and communities. It is anchored around three pillars: community action, local advocacy and building an effective information base.
The Ambassador Program puts a personal face on pork production in Alberta and is the vehicle through which Alberta’s 1,500 pork producers can communicate directly with the general public, increasing public confidence in pork and pork production methods.
The goals of the Ambassador Program are to build strong relationships between Alberta pork producers and their communities, to build a climate conducive to community prosperity and industry sustainability and to respond to issues in a timely and proactive manner.
The Ambassador Program helps Alberta Pork fulfill its strategic objective of “helping its producers prosper in their own operations and communities.” |
