Agriculture Financial Services Corporation ordered to release information

September 7, 2011
An Adjudicator with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner has ordered the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation to release information it withheld under an access request.

An Applicant had requested the names of Alberta Producers who were issued payments, and the amount they were issued, under the Alberta Farm Recovery Plan and the Alberta Farm Recovery Program II.

The Public Body withheld the information pursuant to sections 16 and 17 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).

Adjudicator Lisa McAmmond determined that neither section cited applied to the requested information. She held that release of the information would not be an unreasonable invasion of the personal privacy of third parties, and that disclosure of the information would not reasonably be expected to significantly harm the competitive position of a third party.

Adjudicator McAmmond ordered the Public Body to disclose all the information at issue.
